My wife Jo and I got bitten by the hospitality bug in the ’90s when we were running a small county pub in South Australia. When we had the opportunity to purchase a rundown old homestead on 3000 acres on the Eyre Peninsula, we jumped at it! So in 1999, we moved to Coodlie Park Farm Retreat and this is the place we are lucky enough to have called home ever since. We spent some years fixing up Coodlie Park which now is an amazing wilderness retreat featuring a range of accommodation from self-contained cabins to a unique eco-bush camping ground.
In 2004, another great opportunity arose, this time to purchase a struggling tour company called Nullarbor Traveller. At the time, it offered backpackers a raw and basic 9-day camping adventure between Adelaide and Perth. In the years following, loving a challenge as we do, we invested a lot of blood, sweat and tears into promoting these undiscovered regions on international and domestic marketing trips. We’ve since built up Nullarbor Traveller to be internationally recognised as ‘Australia’s ultimate wildlife and camping adventure’.
Then in 2014, we noticed an increasing interest in a different style of touring, other than camping. People wanted to travel to the same amazing destinations but to do it in style with the comforts of civilisation – staying in more luxurious accommodation and travelling in executive vehicles
Expanding to Xplore Eyre
This is when we decided to expand our product range and create a new, higher-end brand – Xplore Eyre – to cater to this growing market of small family groups and private charters.
As they say, the rest is history! A lot of our tours stop off for the night at Coodlie Park where we will welcome you as part of the family in true Aussie style.
