Tour Overview

The jaw-droppingly beautiful Head of Bight is renowned as one of Australia’s most spectacular whale watching sites. With the backdrop of the Bunda cliffs, pristine beaches, and accessible viewing platforms, the Head of Bight offers a unique opportunity to view up to 120 Southern Right Whales as they frolic in the waters of the Great Australian Bight Marine Park.

Take to the ocean on a 2-hour Whale Watching and Wildlife Cruise off Point Fowler. Set among the stunning beauty of rugged cliffs and sand dunes, you’ll have the opportunity to spot whales, dolphins, sea lions, NZ fur seals and Little Penguins.

Get another perspective of the region on a 45-minute scenic flight over the Head of Bight and get adventurous on some off-road four-wheel driving experiences. Explore stunning national parks, discover an iconic outback roadhouse on the Nullarbor and try your hand at fishing.

Important Information

Flights are operated by Rex and depart Adelaide at 8.15 am – arriving in Ceduna at 9.05am. Returning from Ceduna on day three at 7.25 pm, and arriving in Adelaide at 8.50 pm.

We recommend storing some luggage at your return accommodation in Adelaide as Rex has a 15 kg luggage restriction per person plus one 7 kg carry-on. For more details on Rex Baggage Allowance please visit their website.

Rates are based on Twin/Double Share. If you are travelling solo you need to pay the Single Supplement rate for your own room.

Private tours require a minimum of two people to operate or a Single Traveller rate applies.

Dietary requirements can be catered for but must be advised at time of booking.

  1. Day 1 Adelaide to Ceduna

    You will be transferred from your Adelaide accommodation bright and early to catch a short flight to Ceduna. Your guide will greet you and give you an overview of the journey ahead over a coffee and delicious homemade pastries. Then it’s time for your first taste of the Eyre Peninsula, exploring beautiful Denial Bay. Learn about the oyster industry and sample some fresh produce.

    In the afternoon get adventurous doing some four-wheel driving through the dunes at Davenport Creek. Back in Ceduna walk along the jetty and try your luck at hooking a Southern Calamari. Check in to your Luxury Spa Villa with views over the ocean and enjoy a delectable platter of fresh oysters and local produce, paired with some Eyre Peninsula fine wine.

    Today we travel 150km.

  2. Day 2 Great Australian Bight

    Enjoy breakfast on the Ceduna foreshore before heading to Fowlers Bay to board a two-hour Whale & Wildlife Oceanic Cruise. A highlight of the tour, witness the great spectacle of Southern Right Whales sheltering with their young and see other species of aquatic marine life and birdlife. 

    Back on land enjoy some gourmet fish and chips while we do a little more whale watching from the foreshore. In the afternoon stop at Penong to hear how the town became home to so many windmills. Next we’ll make our way along the iconic and colourful “Watermelon Ave” to the world famous surf break – Cactus Beach. Be wowed by the endless deserted white sandy beaches of Point Sinclair and pop into a country pub for a beer and yarn with the locals. Enjoy a meal at the Ceduna Hotel or head back to the villa to cook up the catch of the day.

    Today drive 250 km and stay back in your Luxury Spa Villa at Shelly in Ceduna.

  3. Day 3 Ceduna to Adelaide

    This morning it’s up bright and early to take in the jaw-dropping beauty of the Head of Bight and Bunda Cliffs. Stand on the ‘Edge of Australia’ at an awe-inspiring coastal lookout. Visit the Head of Bight Whale Centre to learn more about these incredible creatures. Have a bite for lunch as you breathe deep and take in the in magic all around you.

    Next, we highly recommend the Optional Extra of a 45-minute Scenic Flight over the Great Australian Bight. This gives you the chance to spot many more whales from above, as well as the vast outback of the Nullarbor. This afternoon you will discover an iconic outback roadhouse and the karst limestone caves along the Nullarbor.

    As your journey draws to an end, tantalise your taste buds one last time at our pop-up restaurant, enjoying some seafood and local wine over a lovely Eyre Peninsula sunset. Then it’s time to return back to Ceduna and catch your 7.25 pm flight to Adelaide. Your airport transfer will have you back to your accommodation at around 9.30 pm.
